My Review:
I’d like to thank Zoe from Zooloo’s Book Tours for arranging this tour and inviting me to take part. With Jim Ody being a fellow Swindonian how could I not take part in his blog tour and help promote a local book? I recently read another of Jim Ody’s books and enjoyed it so I had high expectations for this one.
At less than 300 pages this book could easily be read in one sitting, which is exactly what I did. I was completely absorbed in the case and could not tear myself away. Jim Ody introduces us to a mix bag of characters, most of which have been deeply affected by an incident that happened a few years ago.
Of all the characters my favourite was Jez. He had a sense of humour like no other and his choice of clothing kept me very amused. He brought a lighter touch to the story and was a great sidekick for Hudson. Our main man Hudson was very interesting. As the story progresses you learn more about his past and why he is so obsessed with missing children cases. I thought the way Hudson handled himself and the case was very professional and could see why he was such a good police officer previously.
The story flicks back and forth between current events and the incident. I really enjoyed how the story unravelled and found myself second guessing my assumptions frequently. Just when I thought I had figured it out Jim Ody threw in another curveball and the final revelation was one I hadn’t expected.
A thoroughly enjoyable read that was not only entertaining but addictive. I will definitely be checking out the next book the series straight away!
Author Info:
Jim writes dark psychological/thrillers, Horror and YA books that have endings you won’t see coming, and favours stories packed with wit. He has written over a dozen novels and many more short-stories spanning many genres.
Jim has a very strange sense of humour and is often considered a little odd. When not writing he will be found playing the drums, watching football and eating chocolate. He lives with his long-suffering wife, three beautiful children and two indignant cats in Swindon, Wiltshire UK.

Great review Lucy. I have always steered clear of Jim Ody’s books as they are usually so dark, this one doesn’t sound too bad.

This one definitely focused more on crime rather than horror.
