Sequel September #6 – Liar Liar Review

As it is the last day of September I thought I would get this review in to neatly round off the month. So here is my review of book 6..

Detective Helen Grace has never seen such destruction. Six fires in twenty-four hours. Two people dead. Several more injured. It’s as if someone wants to burn the city to the ground…

With the whole town on high alert, Helen and her team must sift through the rubble to find the arsonist, someone whose thirst for fire—and control—is reducing entire lives to ashes.

One misstep could mean Helen’s career—and more lives lost. And as the pressure mounts and more buildings burn, Helen’s own dark impulses threaten to consume her…

It has been a while since I picked up a M.J Arlidge book and oh my I have missed them!  Liar Liar is the 4th book in the Helen Grace series and although you don’t have to read the others to understand what is going on I would recommend it, as there’s some background info that would come in handy.

Whilst Helen Grace is the main character of the book I very much enjoyed seeing Charlie Brooks story develop and she is becoming a much loved character for me. Reading her personal struggles and the way she deals with her job, she is one of the most candid characters in the series so far.

Never have I ever read a book with so many twists and turns! Just when you think the team are getting somewhere another spanner is thrown in the works and the conclusion was not what I expected. For me each book in the series just keeps getting better and better, especially the little cliff hanger we are left at the end of the last chapter. This is making me want to read onto the next one even more. Sadly I am going to have to leave Helen Grace for a little while as I have already chosen my books for next month but surely that will make the reading all that more enjoyable?

Whilst I may be behind in the series, with book 8 just being released, I am very excited to see where Helen Grace’s journey goes and I have a feeling that there’s a lot more excitement and drama to follow.
