Blogging Update

Hello all,

I hope life is treating you well. As the end of the year approaches, I thought it was time that I did a little update for you all. When I started blogging back in 2017 I never imagined that it would become such a huge part of my life. Since my first post, my blogging space has grown and become somewhere that I can share the book love as well as add to the never-ending reading pile. During the lockdown, I decided to start blogging every day and took part in weekly memes. Whilst I have a lovely family and was never lonely in lockdown those weekly memes and connection with the online community helped to keep me sane, in a world where seeing our loved ones posed such risks.

Since the restrictions have lifted I have kept up with the daily blog posts and thank god for advanced scheduling otherwise I never would have maintained it. Now that my work life and at times, social life, have picked up I’m finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with this demand I started to question whether it was worth it? Don’t get me wrong I am not going anywhere but I started to wonder if quality or quantity was a better stance to take?

With this in mind, I have decided to take a step back from my blog. In the new year, I am going to keep posting my book reviews, monthly wrap-ups and the weekly WWW post but step back from the other commitments that I have. My monthly wrap-up will be a longer post one as I’ll include what I’ve been reading, which new authors I have read and any updates on my life in general. I feel this way I will be giving better content and relieving some of the pressure I have put on myself.

I also want to make time to sit and read others’ blog posts, which again has been quite difficult. I hate being one of those people that gets the comments, and replies, but fails to comment on others’ posts so I promise I will start to be better at that. For anyone that regularly comments on my blog posts or takes part in any of the memes that I started doing this year, thank you for all your support. Every time I get a comment notification I smile to myself, it’s nice to know it’s not just me reading my own work!

That just leaves me to wish you all a Happy Bookish New Year. I hope 2023 is kind to you all and I look forward to seeing all the bookish content!

All the best

  1. Blogging every day as well as working must be incredibly time consuming and I certainly wouldn’t be able to keep it up. Less posts seems a good idea to me and I look forward to reading them in 2023.
