Hello fellow bookworms!
For the spooky season we decided to go for a witchy read as our book club choice. A few of us in the group are big fans of spooky, witchy reads so we were very much looking forward to this one.

Title: The Ex Hex (The Ex Hex #1)
Author: Erin Sterling
Genre: Fantasy/ Romance

Source: Paperback
Synopsis:
Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones nursed her broken heart like any young witch would: vodka, weepy music, bubble baths…and a curse on the horrible boyfriend. Sure, Vivi knows she shouldn’t use her magic this way, but with only an “orchard hayride” scented candle on hand, she isn’t worried it will cause him anything more than a bad hair day or two.
That is until Rhys Penhallow, descendent of the town’s ancestors, breaker of hearts, and annoyingly just as gorgeous as he always was, returns to Graves Glen, Georgia. What should be a quick trip to recharge the town’s ley lines and make an appearance at the annual fall festival turns disastrously wrong. With one calamity after another striking Rhys, Vivi realizes her silly little Ex Hex may not have been so harmless after all.
Suddenly, Graves Glen is under attack from murderous wind-up toys, a pissed off ghost, and a talking cat with some interesting things to say. Vivi and Rhys have to ignore their off the charts chemistry to work together to save the town and find a way to break the break-up curse before it’s too late.
#TsundokuSquad Review:
Well this was certainly a fun, flirty and steamy read! A lot of us agreed that we loved the prologue and could easily imagine our little group attempting to ‘curse’ someone after a few too many glasses of wine! We couldn’t wait to see what the fall out from the curse would be.
When Rhys returns to Penhallow it soon becomes clear that things are not going right for him and it doesn’t take Vivienne too long to figure out why that might be. We found the different mishaps he faced quite amusing and honestly didn’t blame Vivienne for leaving him at the side of the road.
When these two characters become reacquainted it is clear that the chemistry is there and we knew it wouldn’t be long till their feelings came to the surface. Erin Sterling has certainly added some steaminess to this story, which was a pleasant surprise. Rhys and Vivienne clearly belong together and you want to see them succeed in the story, especially when the curse takes a turn for the worst.
Helping Vivienne along the way are Aunt Elaine and her cousin Gwyn, not forgetting Sir Percival either! We loved her witchy family and the strength they gave her, Gwyn was certainly protective over Vivienne and more than happy to give Rhys a piece of her mind.
Set in a small Georgian town, this book is not going to scare or spook you but it will make you feel witchy and cosy. It was a fun read for the spooky season and a few of us are looking forward to reading the sequel.

Great review, Lucy, I’m glad you enjoyed it!

This sounds like a fun read, Lucy. I passes because I am not a huge fan of witches, but this sounds harmless. Great review.
