My Review:

I stumbled across this audiobook on Scribd and thought I’d give it a go. I’ve only read one of C.L. Taylor’s books previously and wanted to see what this one was like. I’m a fan of YA and believe you’re never too old to give it a try!

Told from alternating points of view we begin the story with the six friends meeting on their parent’s annual holiday together. It’s clear from the start that they aren’t as close as they used to be and each of them appears to have some sort of troubled past. Jessie, one of our narrators, is recovering from the death of her brother and is trying her upmost to blend back in the group. Danny, our other narrator, is worried about his girlfriend and paranoid that she’s hiding something from him.

When the six friends embark on their week long trip to the island, with their guide, things seem to be going well. Then tragedy strikes and everything seems to fall apart. The group begin to question if they are the only ones on the island? If not, why is someone targeting them? Worse yet could that someone be one of the group?

I absorbed the audio of this one in a day and thoroughly enjoyed the tension the author built up. One by one I began to question each of the members of the group, wondering who would have motive to scare the others. I was worried for what would come next for them! The final twist is brilliantly executed and brought about a satisfying conclusion. Definitely worth a listen for any YA thriller fans out there.
