Hello all and welcome to the Book Blogger Hop! This is a weekly meme that I have joined in with this year and I can’t wait to answers all these bookish questions!
The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

This weeks question is: If you receive a request from an author to read his/her book and you don’t have time, do you suggest another way to help the author? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)
It’s really hard to say no isn’t it? I always want to try and help authors get their book out into the world but sometimes it’s hard to fit them all in. I also review for a couple of tour companies and again I want to say yes to everything and then the realisation that I actually have too many to read hits. I have been better at cutting back on these and being more realistic with what I can achieve. After all I work as well as looking after two small children so life can be hectic at times.
There are lots of ways to help authors other than reading their books. Purely by doing a spotlight post and sharing the synopsis on your blog page drives traffic to the book. Sharing extracts (with the authors permission) or taking part in Q&A’s all put the book on peoples radars.
What are your top tips for this question?

I guess it depends on what the author writes. I have had authors ask if I would read and review their book on my blog, but the book was not something I would ever read. If that is the case, I wish them luck but say no thank you. I have posted spotlight posts for books that I was asked to review on my blog, if I plan on reading the book down the road, but just can’t fit it in. I agree, Lucy. I can’t possibly read, review and post for every book I am invited or requested to read. Too many books, too little time.

It’s so hard to pick what to say yes to isn’t it? There are too many books out there it would be impossible to read them all.

It’s nice to have an option of helping without requiring too much of your time. But, I agree, it’s hard to choose who to say yes or no to.

I’ve had to be a lot stricter with myself because I said yes to too much and ended up making my hobby feel more like a chore.
