Hello all and welcome to the Book Blogger Hop! This is a weekly meme that I have joined in with this year and I can’t wait to answers all these bookish questions!
The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

This weeks question is: – What is the average number of books you read per month? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)
The number of books I read a month has drastically changed since I started blogging. I also saw a huge increase during the pandemic. Being in lockdown meant I made more time to read and established a routine which I stuck to, even when the world was opening up again.
When I first started blogging I would usually read anything between 1 and 5 books a month, last year though I was averaging 8 – 12 books a month. These will usually be a mixture of audio and physical/eBooks. I have a 25 minute commute three times a week so I tend to get a lot of listening done on those three days plus when I’m out walking the dog.
For me reading is my passion so I tend to focus a lot of my spare time into that. Once my little ones have gone to sleep I tend to dive straight into my book and spend most of my evenings reading.
How many books do you read a month? Have you noticed a change in your reading numbers in recent years?

I’ve noticed a huge difference in how much I read within the last six months. It’s mostly thanks to my introduction to audiobooks and being able to listen while I cook and do chores. I’m now reading roughly 10 books per month whereas I use to read 3-6 books, 7 or 8 if I was having a super good month.

Audiobooks are fantastic for fitting it that extra reading time. It’s amazing how much more motivated I am to do housework when I have an audio on the go 😂

I wouldn’t say I’m more motivated to cook and clean, but I definitly feel more productive being able to read while I work lol

Before I began the blog, my reading was much more on a whim so to try to answer this question would have been hard. But blogging has me reading at a pretty consistent rate with is 12-16 books per month. It’s funny how blogging changes your reading, isn’t it?

Wow that’s a great monthly total! I saw my reading go up in lockdown too but now has come back down to around 5 books a month 💜

That’s still an impressive amount of reading. I think as the world opens up more and we start to holiday more frequently I’ll see my numbers go down.

I retired 11 years ago and started reading more. I probably read about 12 books a month. When my husband passed away 5 years ago, I found reading was more enjoyable than watching television and probably upped my reading to 20 or so a month. Then I discovered audiobooks and like Writer Girl, began to listen while doing dishes, baking, gardening, laundry etc. I now probably read/listen to about 40 books a month. Saying that, I live alone, am retired and can read and/or listen pretty much all day, every day. 😁📚💖

That’s very impressive Carla, it’s interesting to see how our reading patterns change depending on what stage of life we are at.
