Series Saturday – January

Hello bookworms!

I have decided to start a new monthly feature on my blog called Series Saturday. I was amazed at how many book series I had on my shelf and thought it was about time I shared them with you all. Each month I will choose one series to feature. This may be a series I have read and loved or am yet to read. To kick this monthly feature off I am starting with a firm favourite…..

I first discovered MJ Arlidge back in 2017 after a friend lent me the first book. These books have since become a staple in my crime/ thriller collection and I simply can not get enough. I actually got my husband started on these and he really enjoys them too.

For anyone not familiar with this series here is the synopsis of the first book Eeny Meeny…..

Two people are abducted, imprisoned, and left with a gun. As hunger and thirst set in, only one walks away alive.

It’s a game more twisted than any Detective Helen Grace has ever seen. If she hadn’t spoken with the shattered survivors herself, she almost wouldn’t believe them.

Helen is familiar with the dark sides of human nature, including her own, but this case—with its seemingly random victims—has her baffled. But as more people go missing, nothing will be more terrifying than when it all starts making sense….

What do I love about this series?

M.J. Arlidge has a way of writing to grab your attention immediately. You would think ten books in I would be getting bored but I love everything about this series. Our protagonist Helen Grace is feisty, assertive and determined. She isn’t afraid to throw herself in to the action and quite often finds herself in dangerous situations. The short sharp chapters make it really easy to pick up and put down without feeling like you’re half way through a chapter.

Have you read the DI Helen Grace series? Which Is your favourite book in the collection?

Fancy sharing a series on your shelf? Why not join in?

  1. I read the first three in this series and loved them. I also highlighted it a week or so ago. I want to finish this series this year as part of my finish the series, challenge, but I will see. Great choice, Lucy.

  2. I haven’t heard of this series. I pretty much read anything that sounds interesting to me no matter the genre but I tend to gravitate toward certain genres. I don’t read a whole lot of crime books but I would definitely be interested in branching out of my “comfort zone”. I’m going to add the first book to my Goodreads TBR so I don’t forget about it. Thanks for sharing and what a great series idea.
