Mid Year Freak Out Book Tag 2020

Hello fellow bookworms,

We all know that I love a good book tag and I’ve seen this one popping up quite a lot. How could I possibly resist? With 51 books read this year I found it hard to narrow down my choices. Let’s see what my readings been like so far….

Best book you’ve read so far in 2020

This was so difficult as I have loved so many books this year so I’ve narrowed it down to two. One romance and one thriller….

Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2020.

I’ve read 5 sequels that I gave 5* to so this was another tricky one.

New release you haven’t read yet, but want to.

I’m quite up to date with my new releases but one I’m excited to read this month is…

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

Anyone who follows me regularly knows how much I love Jodi Picoult and I’ve just been approved to read her new book that is out this Autumn!

Biggest disappointment

I was recommended this one by a family member and we decided to read it in our book club. Unfortunately none of us enjoyed it.

Biggest surprise

I’ve had quite a few nice surprises this year and there were two books that stuck out on my list. Both I had no idea what to expect as they were new authors to me but I was pleasantly surprised.

Favourite new author. (Debut or new to you)

I have read a total of 26 books by authors that or new to me. This was probably the hardest to narrow down of them all but I finally decided on Emma Lord (author of Tweet Cute) and Emily Henry (author of Beach Read).

Newest fictional crush

I’m not usually one for fictional crushes but I loved Gus from Beach Read. He was moody, mysterious, funny and sooo romantic!

Newest favourite character

I loved Ginika from Postscript by Cecelia Ahern. She had this attitude and candid nature about her that you couldn’t help but love. Her story was the most touching and heartbreaking.

Book that made you cry

This was an easy one…

Book that made you happy

I loved how beautifully written this was. When I reached the end I remember having that warm fuzzy feeling!

Favourite book to film adaptation

I’ve read a few book to film adaptations this year and I haven’t been impressed. My favourite would have to be a classic that I reread in March.

Favourite post you have done this year

My most popular post for likes was The Fictional Family Book tag. I really enjoyed this one although I wasn’t keen on my family!

Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)

I had my 30th birthday in April and I was lucky enough to receive so many beautiful books. My favourite gift was my collection of Jane Austen’s novels.

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

A lot!!! My main goal is to finish my NetGalley library by the end of the year and have 100% feedback. I also have 49 books remaining in my Goodreads goal.

I feel that the first half of the year has been great for my reading. For the last few years I’ve always felt like I’ve been playing catch up but not anymore. I’ve accepted that I will always have a TBR pile and just enjoyed discovering new authors whilst keeping my ARC’s under control.
